Pajama Finds

I’m a big one for comfort at home.  I like my bed linens soft, my pillows fluffy, and my “soft clothes” super-duper comfy.  99% of the time I run to my closet and change out of my “street clothes” immediately after returning home.

Why? Well, first, I’m into comfort.  And second, at the risk of exposing my tendencies for germaphobia and anal retentiveness, here it is: have you ever looked around at the people that are out there?  You go to a restaurant and you sit in a chair. Who was sitting there before you and what gnarly-ness was on the seat of their pants? Do you really want to bring the funk from the rear-end of their pants home on your own pants and sit on your furniture? Ewwww.  (Sorry, I know you can’t un-read that.)

Because of this, shedding my clothes and opting for comfy clothes at home is my style. Throughout years of always putting my needs behind my daughter’s, I just recently looked at my at-home comfort wardrobe and realized it was a pretty embarrassing sight! T-shirts resembling cottage cheese, and pants with hopelessly frayed and ragged bottom edges.  I suddenly became aware that I looked somewhat like a hobo, and well, that’s just not ok.

I became a woman on a mission.  I challenged myself to find attractive, comfortable and affordable loungewear outfits that I could wear to hang out, sleep, or even answer the door. I also challenged myself to throw away all those old ratty clothes that were too worn out to donate.  (If I’m to be honest, I’ve succeeded in the first part of my mission, but letting go of those trusty favorites has proven difficult. We’ve been together for years and years!)

Below I’m listing a couple of fantastic new finds that have quickly become my favorite soft clothes to hang out in at home.  First, the Moonlight Pajamas by Nordstrom; a classic, button-up top with matching pants available in several colors. They’re so soft and wash beautifully with no shrinking.  Second, the Cool Nights line by Soma. There are so many pieces in this collection and all of it is made from a soft, luxurious rayon/spandex blend fabric that has just the right amount of stretch.  As an added bonus, some of the items in this collection are available in petites online, which is always something that works well for me.

  1. Well, I never thought about the germs that I bring into my home, onto my furniture. I have always been the same with my shoes – taking them off at the door, not wanting to track in the “funk” from outside. I love your taste! Your new comfy house clothing is perfect!!!
